GACE® Paraprofessional Assessment Information
The GACE® Paraprofessional assessment measures the skills and knowledge in reading, writing, and math possessed by prospective and practicing paraprofessionals. It also measures their ability to apply those skills and knowledge when assisting in classroom instruction.
This assessment is taken by prospective and practicing paraprofessionals to demonstrate that they are knowledgeable in reading, writing, and math, and that they are capable of assisting in classroom instruction.
Test takers have 2 1/2 hours to complete the assessment.
The test has 90 selected-response questions, approximately two-thirds of which focus on basic skills and knowledge. The remaining one-third focuses on applying skills in the classroom. All test questions are in English.
The GACE® Paraprofessional assessment is reported as a scaled score with a scale of 100 to 300. The passing standards for the GACE® Paraprofessional assessment is 250.
If the participant does not receive a passing grade on this test, he/she will need to wait 30 days before retaking the test.
The test fee for the GACE® Paraprofessional assessment is $38 to be paid with a credit/debit card at the time of scheduled testing.
Test takers will need to bring a picture ID with them to begin testing. They will not be allowed to have any personal items during test time (i.e. cell phones, purses).
