What a powerful professional learning day with Dr. Emily Graybill and Jason Byars!

Dr. Graybill led teams through the critical work of wrapping up Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and strengthening Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) with clarity and precision. She pushed us to move beyond compliance and focus on quality:

• Are behaviors clearly and objectively defined?

• Is the identified function truly supported by data?

• Does the BIP explicitly teach replacement skills?

• Are we monitoring progress in ways that guide real decisions?

Her guidance helped teams ensure alignment between function and intervention — making plans practical, actionable, and centered on student growth. This was deep, thoughtful work focused on doing FBAs and BIPs the right way.

Jason then guided participants through three powerful decision-making models that challenge us to slow down and lead intentionally:

🔹 Vulnerable Decision Points (VDP) – Recognizing when stress, assumptions, or fatigue may influence our responses and planning ahead for those moments.

🔹 How to Win Friends Model – A reminder that influence begins with relationships, empathy, and connection.

🔹 ETHICS Model – A structured framework for navigating complex dilemmas with clarity, integrity, and professional responsibility.

The result? A day that strengthened both our systems and our decision-making. When we combine precise behavioral planning with thoughtful leadership, students win.

Grateful for leaders who help us think deeply, act intentionally, and stay grounded in what matters most.
